Air Susu Dibalas Dengan Air Tuba

Air Susu Dibalas Dengan Air Tuba
Project Description
A publication created to promote Yishun through focusing on the rich history and natural environments in an otherwise modern and high-tech city of Singapore. Using the magic of fantasy-fiction and narrative stories, Air Susu Dibalas Dengan Air Tuba shines light on Malay history and how it has influenced the Yishun of today. The book is written from the perspective of the fictional water deity, Ombak, one of the three guardians of Singapore.

The story showcases the Orang Seletar, Lim Nee Soon and Malay mythology and themes. For example, Ombak is an ular naga, a mythical beast from Malay mythology and the title of the project is a peribahasa, or proverb, which, directly translated, means 'repaying the gift of milk with poisonous water'. The proverb means to repay good with bad. This project is dear to me as I get to promote and highlight a part of my culture, one that is not spoken about, unfortunately.
Publication Summary
